Great Dunmow Carnival 2015

Carnival 2015 was huge!!! To get the massive crowds there we ran events through the afternoon and into the evening which included many local schools, clubs, bands, organisations and dance / theatre groups. Surrounding the main arena are stalls of every description as well as the famous 41 Club BBQ the hugely popular Round Table beer tent with a licensed bar, circus and massive James Dean funfair.

In the evening the party continued with a live free concert.

This year FIL STRAUGHAN, JAMES FORD, THE ACCOUSTIC CIRCUS, BISHOPS STORTFORD UKELELE SOCIETY and THE ROCK CHOIR get us underway. Then the party atmosphere wound up with the fantastic jersey guys tribute to the hugely successful West End show the JERSEY BOYS featuring the music of Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons. After the massive FIREWORKS DISPLAY we continued the party in style with a truly stellar line up from the USA & UK playing the hits of KOOL & THE GANG - Lets all celebrate and have a good time.....

More details on our website http://www.dunmowcarnival.com/

It's free! and it's all about our community and supporting good causes. Carnival goers raise an estimated £40k for local charities each and every year whilst having a brilliant day!

February 80's Night

Great Dunmow 41 Club (part of the Association of Round Tables) were delighted to present the Great Dunmow Annual Charity Concert. This year we brought to you the sound of the 80's courtesy of; WHAM!DURAN

The best part was that we raised a huge £4k for a new baby monitor the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Princess Alexandra Hospital. A massive thank you to all who helped and all those who partied!!! The fancy dress was superb as was the atmosphere. We will definitely do it again next year!

WHAM!DURAN have been performing The songs of Duran Duran and Wham! since 1993 and are on a mission to achieve the next best thing to a Wham! or Duran Duran gig, - a WHAM!DURAN gig. The band have spent years honing the exact sounds of the 80's and even feature one of the original trumpet players from the early Wham! days (Colin Graham). The show features Duran hits such as Planet Earth, Hungry Like the Wolf, Girls on Film Notorious and Rio. The Wham hits include Edge of Heaven, Young Guns, Club Tropicana, Freedom, Bad Boys, Wham Rap! Everything She Wants, I'm Your Man and of course Wake Me Up before you Go-Go.

Choose Life! T-shirts were optional as were shoulder pads and eye liner (and that's just for the boys) but having a party in the Foakes Hall was compulsory!

Fireworks 2014

Great Dunmow Round Table Fireworks On the 'Rec 2014 was a storming success. Many thousands of residents turned out for a full on family fun evening. The lads worked their socks off to provide a massive bonfire, BBQ, Mulled wine and side-shows. No pics I'm afraid! However, Sound-One provided all the sound and the public safety lighting including the family disco and musical accompaniment to Dynamics Fireworks 21 minute display. For those interested the track listing this year it was:

Believe it or not 21 minutes of mix takes about 16 hours in the studio to put together - but as all the money raised from the even goes to charities and good causes, it's worth it!

Great Dunmow Carnival 2014

What a fantastic day, 20th September 2014. A bit moist to start with but then the crowds really came out. Madness, The Jam, Autumn Stone, the Johnson Brothers, Wanted Direction, the Downside, Sul Fiato, 3 local schools 2 performing arts schools, and so much more. We never get to know how much we raise for charites and good causes but it runs into many tens of thousands of Pounds. Sound-One working with the Carnival Events Committee does all this for free (because we love where we live). We install and run 3 systems around the town of Great Dunmow and a massive system on the recreation ground to create a party for 10,000 people.

Charity Concert March 2014

Take That 2 in concert with Craig Neil. All proceeds went to local charities. Sound-One provided all the equipment for the show and a brilliant night it was too. After engineering the acts Pete Sparks' DJing kept the crowd dancing (and spending money) 'till the small hours.

Fireworks 2013

OK so the picture might be "darkness in Technicolor" but the night was fantastic. A great fireworks show was laid on by Dynamic Fireworks in association with Round Table for several thousand families. The party atmosphere, Void premium sound system and the fireworks mix was provided by Sound-one. All proceeds went to local charities via Round Table.

Great Dunmow Carnival 2013

Carnival 2013 was a storming success, Queen 2, Bon Giovi, Autumn Stone, and a whole host of local talent brought the people of Dunmow out for one of the biggest free parties in Essex. Sound-One provide all the sound and lighting for the event, present the show and organise the acts beforehand on behalf of the Events Committee.

Concert Night 2 Feb 2013

The full band concert show captured the essence of the Elvis performances in Las Vegas in the early 1970's complete with the fantastic TCE Band and authentic backing vocals by the Sweet Imperials. And all for a good cause, NICU at Princess Alexandra Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (the baby care unit to you and I) who saved my daughters life when she was born with breathing problems.

Marshall King back in 2009 was awarded the best Elvis tribute artist on ITV in the UK and since then has risen to one of the most elite tributes of the world with performances spanning as far as the USA and Europe. Apart from his superb vocal impression he also completes the illusion that Elvis is on stage with an amazing transformation including genuine outfits made in the USA by costume makers using the original Elvis designs. Marshall has painstakingly studied the mannerisms and movements and captures the complete Presley performance. He has a warm and humorous on stage persona where he manages to accurately present the man as well as the performer with a very respectful performance to the "King" himself, never forgetting there was only one king of rock and roll.

Remembrance Sunday 2012

Sunday 11th - Least we forget. A moving "we who grow old...." speech by old soldier Maurice. David Vincent's from the United Reformed Church's first time providing the service. A simple affair around the war memorial in the High St using two speakers a desk and a radio microphone on a stand to ensure the several hundred in attendance could hear the service.

Dunmow Fireworks Night 2012

Great Dunmow Fireworks display 3rd Nov 2012 - Run by Great Dunmow Round Table on the Recreation Ground. At least 7,000 people turned up for the professional display carried out to a 20 minute music mix prepared by yours truly. The family disco provided a really great atmosphere. Round Table & 41 Club provided the burgers, hot dogs and a licensed bar selling mulled wine.

Well done to Round Table, 41 Club, wives, girlfriends, children, parents and people who just came to help. A special thank you to the American airmen from Mildenhall who helped again for the third year running.

All the money raised from the night goes straight to local charities and community groups in the Great Dunmow area.

Dunmow Carnival 2012

Saturday 15th September 2012 - The Great Dunmow Carnival - Wham Duran, Brothers of Soul, Fil Straughan and lots of acts and attractions for everyone. An absolutely brilliant sunny day out for all the family. One parade, 18 acts, one fairground, one circus, 87 stalls, one massive sound and lighting system on the Rec, 4 PA systems in the town, a team of volunteers, engineers and in excess of 10,000 people having a party. Me on the desk, Ant & Paul on stage, George on the lighting desk, Tracy & Liza looking after the acts and Cecil, Marcus and Paul Davies providing muscle and comms. Round Table running the bar, 41 Club running the BBQ and the scouts doing teas. A fantastic result and many, many thousands of pounds raised for good causes.

Thanks to Peter Watson for helping load in the PA in the town on the Friday and credit is due to those who did the commentary on the route: Richard Wilcox (Presenter on the Causeway), Mike Smith (presenter in Market Place) and Oliver Rogers (Presenter in the town)

The Carnival (Events) Committee who organise the show on the Rec - in no particular order are: David Beedle (Chair), Liza Davies, Gwynn Davies, Richard Harris (Town Crier), Maz Miller, Claire Reeve, Peter Toms, Peter Watson, Richard Wilcox, Louise Eccles, Mike Smith and myself.

Kings Oak Feb 12

Carity bash for MACS (Micro and Anophthalmic Children's Society) at the Kings Oak in High Beach, Loughton, Essex. Simon Webbe from Blue and Martin Bell singing with Pete Sparks "in the office" entertaining the ladies for a good cause!

Great Dunmow Carnival 2011

Sound-One is was delighted to be supporting the Great Dunmow Carnival again for 2011. I supplied all the sound and lighting equipment for the concert and events on the Recreation Ground and also supply the three separate sound systems on the procession route through the town.

Stansted (MMCC) May Ball

As my daughter was a pupil there, they asked if I would, so I did.... It may be a small school but they knew how to party! The staff and Sound-One turned the school hall into a nightclub venue and MMCC went for it.

The "Beautiful People" of Mountfitchet Maths & Computing College (MMCC) Year 11 really "Shuffled" to the best dance tunes of 2011 put through the Void 8KW rig. The Caretaker's comment was - "You've managed to completely shake the windows to bits - well we needed to replace those old metal windows anyway" - 2500 Watt bass bins can do that? yes siree...

February 2011 - Charity Concert Night

What a night - a capacity crowd - 2 brilliant bands and a stage set to die for - Oh and a wedge of cash raised for a good cause.

February 2011 - Masquerade Ball

A well heeled gathering organised by IN magazine with "The Mighty Dukes" live soul band and Pete Sparks packing the dancefloor. The band were as tight as could be but the punters definitely were not - they raised a small fortune for Breast Cancer research - and had a fantastic time doing it!

Carnival 2010

Here are just some snaps from Carnival 2010:

Fil Straughan, Take That and Craig Neil

Craig Neil as Neil Diamond, John Prescott as Tom Jones and Marshall King as Elvis - A Vegas night to behold - the best tributes, the best sound and as the pictures testify, fantastic lighting! - and over £2k was raised for Help for Heroes!

Great Dunmow Carnival 2009

19th September - The Great Dunmow Carnival - Probably the largest free concert in Essex - over 10,000 people watched the masses of entertainment spread throughout the day culminating in the Beatles tribute band, John Prescott as Tom Jones, Fil Straughan and a grand fireworks display. The press hailed it as a roaring sucess "the best ever". Sound-One provided all the PA gear including a massive Void Accoustics rig and two other outdoor 100v line comentary rigs - Roll on 2010 - how do we top this? - wait 'n' see....

Countess of Warwick Show 2009

Spread over two massive fields this is the country show - everything from dancing to ploughing, classic cars to tractors - we even ran a spitfire engine !! Sound-One provided all the PA for both days.

The Blues Brothers

This show was laid on for the benefit of "Parents for Children" a charity that places autistic kids with foster parents. Scene II theatre school provided the warm up with the kids performing a set from the "Jersey Boys". The 11 piece (!) band were just as tight as it is possible to be, engineered by Toby West and Pete Sparks. An excellent night was had by all and a Grand was handed over to the charity

4 To Go

Celebrating the London Olympic bid sucess and counting down to the event itself. This was an outdoor gig on Hackney Marshes open to the general public raising money for "Parents for Children" charity. Sound-one providing all the general PA and Band PA for the vent.

Dunmow Carnival 2008

This year Carnival was truly massive! yes 10,000 people went mad to the Masters of Madness, Phil Straughan, Steve Cherelle, Marshall King and much more. There was plenty for all the family including marching bands, a circus, a funfair and a spectacular fireworks display.

Countess of Warwick Show

The country show to beat them all. Sound-one provided all of the PA to cover the massive site accross both sides of the Estate. The PA consisted of 100v line horns for the manor house grounds, Rolls Royce display field and stalls field. The main arena was supplimented with high powered speakers. The Master of Ceremonies was the venerable Mike Smith with Pete Sparks Engineering the 2 day event.

The Oriental Black Tie Ball Saturday 1st March 2008

A very high class fundraiser for Pricess Alexandra Hospital at The Manor of Groves Hotel, Golf & Country Club. Loads of top acts with Pete Sparks as DJ and Compare - Oh and it raised £103k of which £23k was made by Pete Sparks Just simply going out with a radio mic and asking for donations! - how cool is that!

Great Dunmow Fireworks 2007

A massive bonfire which took us all day to build, many thousands of happy faces and lots of Oooh's and Aah's make this a very special night. The fireworks were provided by Essex Pyrotechnics with a specially prepared mix provided by Sound-One. The Party beforehand saw everybody dancing along to the cheesiest of party music before the sound and aerial lightshow was cranked up.

All the funds raised will go back into the local community courtesy of Great Dunmow Round Table.

Sound-One are already booked for next year!!!!

Great Dunmow Carnival 2007

A very poor quality picture of 7000 plus revellers enjoying ABBA Vision - but as that little dot in the background is a 40 foot stage you sort of get the idea!

There were more people on the Recreation Ground than there has ever been - It looked like all of Great Dunmow had turned out!

The challenge was to provide entertainment for all ages and tastes. This year we had performances from acts such as the Red Barrows, Scene II Theatre school, a Karate demonstration, a samba band, line dancing, a marching band, all the local schools plus singers Richard Carter and Craig Neil. As a measure of the success, in years gone by there used to be a lull in the late afternoon when people went home for their tea, this doesn't happen anymore, the event was packed!

The Evening entertainment kicked of in style with Marshall King fresh from his success at Cressing Temple Barns and concluded with ABBA Vision getting the assembled crowd of many many thousands dancing to the hits of ABBA. The Dunmow Rotary Club underwrote the fireworks which finished off the event in style, supplied by Tom Archer and his team at Essex Pyrotechnics.

Finchingfield May Fair 2007.

Finchingfield May Fair 28th May 2007- Sound One provided all the outdoor PA horns for the May Fair at what is reputedly the prettiest village in Essex. Shame about the weather but still brought in a crowd of thousands.

Elvis Show - Sudbury

Elvis Show - Key Theatre Sudbury 25th May 2007- Packed to the rafters, a brilliant show from Marshall King.

Great Dunmow Concert Night 2007

A fantastic charity tribute night was had at the Foakes Hall, Great Dunmow, on the 24th February 2007 with a superb show starring "ABBA" supported by "George Michael". Sound-One and Great Dunmow Round Table raised over £1,000 and all proceeds went to Little Havens Children’s Hospice. We also made the front page of the local papers!

ABBA Vision is a sensational and authentic tribute to the glam group Abba. With glitzy costume changes, and choreographed routines, it is an all out energised and visually stunning show performed by singers and actors from London’s West End. Featuring classic hits such as Waterloo, Dancing Queen, Super Trouper, Money Money, and Thank you for the Music, Abba Vision dares you to resist getting up and partying, nobody has managed it yet!

Richard Carter appeared on "Stars In Their Eyes" in 1999. He proved to be a very popular contestant and was well credited for performance. Richard's act contains everything from early George Michael hits such as "Everything She Wants" and "A Different Corner" and follows his career up to date with "Fast Love" and "Outside".

Penny's Charity Netball Event

Penny Lancaster's Charity Netball Do, Epping, November 2006

Penny Lancaster, one of the Big Brother girls and Lisa Nash as Elvis' "Sweat Perspirations"

Penny's charity do for an East end school of performing arts started at Redbridge sports centre with a charity netball match. All the "it" girls were there and unfortunately that was where Penny had "that" photo of her thighs taken. Trust me it must have been Photoshopped 'cos she's lovely. Anyway, Marshall King was the compare for the whole event which concluded back at Walston Manor golf club. This venue is really starting to challenge the other high class venues in this part of the world! After the meal Marshall came out as Elvis and did two sets and the charity auction - and yes he did auction a kiss from Penny's other Half Rod Stewart who was a cracking sport.

Fireworks Night 2006

4th November - Great Dunmow Fireworks Display - Simply the best. Brought to you in association with Great Dunmow Round Table

Dunmow Carnival 2006

Great Dunmow Carnival 16th September 2006:

Sound-One provided the main artists and the sound and lighting for the main arena and stage.

The Procession started through the town at 1.30 and ended up on the Recreation Ground with the local Mayor, Frank Silver introducing the visiting carnival queens. The show then got well and truly underway with Dave Alacey as Frank Sinatra, Stars in Their Eyes' Richard Carter as George Michael (pictured with two of the audience as Pepsi and Shirlie), Pop Idols' Marc Dillan as Robbie Williams and Marshall King as himself. There were also many more acts from the local community including three schools, Dunmow Kyokushinkai Karate Club and two High school rock bands. The evening finished with a spectacular fireworks display to a crowd of well over 5,000 people. Feedback from the show was incredibly positive - Here's a sample e- mail:

Hi Peter, I’m under strict orders from the other 2 couples I went with to email you and say how good Saturday was. We arrived at 2.00pm (in amongst the procession) and left at the end of the fireworks / War of the Worlds. Unfortunately 1 couple had to leave after ‘Frank Sinatra’ because they had a party to go to, but they said they would sooner have stayed. All the sound-a-likes were really good, particularly ‘George Michael’ and Marshall at the end. They all had personalities –which makes a change.......We’ll all be there again next year if you let us know the date when known. What a really good day out. See you soon. Gill.

Great Dunmow Concert Night 2006

Feb 2006: Great Dunmow; Foakes Hall Elvis Show. Brilliant night - We raised £2000 (clear) for the local Paramedics who need a new car for the local area. Marshall King gave his time for nothing - what a star. I and the other Members of Dunmow Round Table organised the show. Round Table chaired by Rob Boulton for 2006. For only £10.00 a head 350 people went mad.
